Cole and Alyssa embarked on the eternal journey of matrimony on October 19, 2024, formally creating, now and forever, "Colyssa". The awesome event took place at the luxurious L'Auberge Del Mar Resort located in Del Mar, California. The ceremony was officiated by San Diego Deputy Marriage Commissioner for a Day, Padre Mark Wesley Martin of Bellaire, Texas, aka Uncle Mark. More than 150 family and friends were in attendance to witness and celebrate Colyssa, including Maid of Honor Andi Platt and the Best Man Jack Ellinthorpe.
...always make time: Make time for yourselves and be comfortable doing things independently; Make time for each other and be there for one another (we all need a personal cheerleader and support pillar); Make time to be together - not just coexisting - being present, being comfortable, and doing things together (from laundry to listening to traveling, etc.). And, make your time together meaningful and essential. Time allows your love, your respect and your gratefulness for each other to deepen and grow. Time is finite - don't ever take that for granted.
~ Debbie McNeely, aka Alyssa's mom
...make sure you find common interests so you can connect with your partner. Pay attention to the things that are important so you can connect with them on those things. It's easy to lead parallel lives but it's important to make sure you continually intersect in a meaningful way so your connection stays strong.
~ Sami Martinez, aka Cole's mom
...because you have to be determined to stick by each other. You can never give up on each other or the marriage. You remain steadfast and determined to make your love and commitment to each other last your lifetime.
~ Clif McNeely, aka Alyssa's dad
...ethic is something you have or you don't. It is what gets you up in the morning and how you live each day. It is a part of who you are, a part of your soul, and it is your guiding principle to make the best choices that contribute to the common good. It is how you show others kindness, consideration and respect. Cole has ethic, Alyssa has ethic. Stay true to yourselves, stay true to your ethic. I know these two will succeed in marriage and in life because they have ethic.
~ Tom Martinez, aka Cole's Dad
...it takes strength to abandon yourself and become lighthearted, and it takes courage to trust that you're not being judged for being silly ...and the reward is shared laughter with each other. When you trust each other's sense of humor then a simple wink, nod or a furrowed brow is all you need to bring a smile to each other's face ... and most of the time that's all we need to feel loved. Life can feel heavy at times but whatever happens to you, you must keep a slightly comedic perspective. Don't take things too seriously, don't take each other too seriously. And, don't forget to laugh at yourself because if you don't someone else will.
~ Deputy Marriage Commissioner for a Day, Padre Mark Wesley Martin, aka Uncle Mark
As the unofficial and unelected, but equally popular, Mayor of La Jolla and First Lady, Cole and Alyssa would love to show you around town. From surfing to hiking to water polo to sushi to local dives, they know it all and know everyone. Give'em a shout when in you're town!
